* Rather than irene's passions of multi cultural/ ethnic theory • art • education • advocacy careening into each other at an intersection, they sit comfy on a microfiber suede sectional in a well lit room. Irene recieved her graduate degree in asian american and ethnic studies with a foci on women artists and cultural workers, critical artistry and cultural discourse in the time of war. In tandem with research and thesis she has been all about the community based non profit world for over 12 years in LA and SF. At one point, a director at City College of San Francisco for the retention of students of color in higher education, a third world internationalist organizer against the sex trade and trafficking with babae SF, a community engagement manager for Kularts, Inc., and the former program manager at Brava Theater Center promoting queer & women of color artists in SF. Now with the underground ad posse, as an account maestra, she works to bring humanitarian and grassroots gusto to the board room (along with a sound campaign plan and concrete measurable deliverables...of course). On top of it all, Irene is also currently a lecturer at San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco and sits proudly on the Board of Directors for Funkonometry SF.A self proclaimed street culture cognoscente, she is always hunting and gathering vintage and nu music, fashion, design and food... for the masses. She can be found wide eyed and curious wandering all over the San Francisco proper. |
