Goods for the Greater Good

Introducing a great potential resource for anyone involved in the world of non-profits: Social Designer. The website hosts open design competitions that challenge graphic artists to communicate socially and environmentally conscious ideas through inexpensive clothing and goods. Users vote on winning designs, earning the designer $2,000.

Social Designer is now accepting submissions for two contests: Local Flavor asks for a tote-bag design celebrating a locally sourced food (to benefit the Chez Panisse Foundation), and Create Your Own Hero seeks personal superheroes that reflect our times (to benefit 826 National).

When you purchase a product, 20% of the profit is donated to charity. Sponsored organizations include Architecture for Humanity, Amnesty International, and the Chez Panisse Foundation.
